Sometimes all of your "favorites" come together in one gig. Friendship, music and art, for instance. What an honor to paint a landscape for a poster this October announcing an ensemble performance of the outstanding Kansas Concert Opera Company.

My most loyal and beloved opera star friends, Stanford and Antonia Felix continue to spin Beauty wherever they go! I've known them for almost two decades since our years exploring NYC together. They are forever creating, writing about, teaching or just delighting in art and music from the depths. I am so proud of them and thrilled to have them close to heart. It's the conversation between brushstrokes I love most.

While painting lifestyle expert Kelley L. Moore in Seattle over the July 4th weekend I saw something rare. We talked of the climactic moment of french film "Babette's Feast". The scene in which Babette says, exhausted after orchestrating her finest, long-awaited dinner for friends, "Through all the world there goes one long cry from the heart of the artist: Give me leave to do my utmost!". I looked over the canvas and saw Kelley nodding gently with an unmistakeable glint in her amber eyes. Kelley knows well the sentiments of an artist...because she is one.
